Kushima Shrine

Kushima Shrine has a long history of over 600 years. The current main deity is Hikohohodemi-no-Mikoto, and 12 other deities are enshrined in the subsidiary shrines.

Takahatayama Shimin Ikoinomori Park

Although the road is steep, narrow, and poorly maintained, it offers a spectacular 180-degree view from an altitude of 300 meters. It is not recommended for large vehicles or low-powered cars.

Cape Toi Lighthouse

From the top of the lighthouse, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, and to the north, the magnificent scenery of the Nichinan Coast unfolds. On a clear day, you can even see the Uchinoura rocket base.

Misaki Shinto Shrine

Nestled on a cliff surrounded by a cycad forest right by the sea, the small Misaki Shrine boasts a history of over 700 years.

Koigaura

This surf spot offers great waves all year round. You can enjoy surfing during the day and then relax in a hot spring afterwards.

Michinoeki Kushima

Opened in 2021. It offers a wide variety of local specialties and bento boxes, and if you have time, you can enjoy a freshly prepared meal at the restaurant.

Kōjima Island

By car 25min + boat

This small, uninhabited island, is home to over 100 monkeys. Designated a natural monument, it became famous after monkeys' habit of washing sweet potatoes before eating.

Oguro Dolphin Land

Features a dolphin exhibit where you can swim with and interact with dolphins, a pool to experience scuba diving, and a fresh market where you can enjoy local products.

Kushima windmills

Kyushu's largest onshore wind farm. The sight of 23 wind turbines lined up in a row is breathtaking, and you can see them up close.
